Wir möchten Sie herzlich zum „Festival of Future Deserts“ einladen, einer Ausstellung und einem öffentlichen Programm mit Workshops und Performances, die vom 17. bis 30. Oktober 2022 im Salbker Wasserturm in Magdeburg stattfinden.

Das Team von OASIS 2027 hat in einer Reihe von ortsspezifischen Residenzen zu Themen der Wüstenbildung gearbeitet. Das Festival of Future Deserts ist das Ergebnis ihrer sechsmonatigen Recherche, die auf der Insel Mallorca und in der Bledowska-Wüste in Polen konzipiert wurde. In Magdeburg wird das Projekt künstlerische Installationen, Texte, Klänge und Filme zeigen und ein Programm mit Workshops, Dialogen und kreativen Begegnungen anbieten.

Was ist Wüstenbildung? Es handelt sich um einen Prozess, bei dem die Böden immer trockener werden, was schließlich dazu führt, dass ein Ort zu einer Wüste wird. Was bedeutet das in Bezug auf die kulturelle Wüste? Angesichts der Klimakrise lädt uns OASIS 2027 dazu ein, den Boden, das Land und unser Ökosystem genauer zu betrachten.

21. – 23. Oktober: Desert Dialogues: Vorträge zur Einführung einer Methode des Zuhörens und der kollektiven Imagination von Zukunftsszenarien
22. Oktober: Wüstenparty im Hot mit Jamsession und lokalen und LIOS-DJs
29. Oktober: Workshop an der Elbe
30. Oktober: Finnisage

Das Festival of Future Desert wird von European Cultural Foundation, Land Sachsen-Anhalt, Stiftung für Deutsch-Polnische Zusammenarbeit und Otto von Guericke University of Magdedurg ermöglicht.

The Festival of Future Deserts is the result of the six-months long research of the cohort of OASIS 2027, working with the topics of desertification. The site specific residencies were conceived in the island of Mallorca and in Bledowska Deser in Poland. Coming to Magdeburg the project will showcase artistic installations, texts, sounds, films and offer a programme of workshops, dialogues and creative gatherings.

What’s desertification? It is the process of lands becoming increasingly arid, eventually leading to a place becoming a desert. What is this is linked to cultural desertedness? In the face of climate crisis, OASIS 2027 invites look closer at the soil and our relation with the land and ecosystem.
